Your
Future Can Begin Now At ITEC
According
to the U.S. Department of Labor, the HVAC [Heating Ventilation and Air
Conditioning) trade is one of the fastest growing trade professions and
will remain so for the foreseeable future. See U.S. Department of
Labor Report:

ICPA's
Technical
Education Center is the educational institution
owned and operated by
Connecticut's oilheat industry, where we prepare motivated individuals
who want to join the exciting profession of the licensed HVAC or
professional oil heat technician. At ITEC, you can also train to receive
your Class
B CDL license, and train in
the Certified
Employee Training Program for Propane licensure.
ICPA's Technical Education
Center is directly connected to the HVAC industry, making it easier to
move from school to a new job once training is completed.
For more than 25 years,
the primary goal of the association is to use our Education Center as the
primary source for training the industry's professional technicians.
ICPA is a 500 member strong association with over 230 oil companies as
members. Students
work and learn along side many people already in the industry. |

Our
Technical
Education Center
was started by a group of dedicated oil company service managers who recognized
that they needed a place to train their oil technicians.
In the beginning, all we taught was oil heat. As our member companies diversified their businesses, our
Education Center kept pace and expanded our curriculum and training to include
all aspects of the HVAC industry. Our school board is made up of oil company owners and service
managers. The school board keeps the faculty of the Education Center informed of
the latest equipment and controls on the market.
Much of this information is incorporated into our classes.
We follow the State of Connecticut's curriculum
in the design our training
program and we are recognized and accredited by the State of Connecticut
Department of Apprenticeship Training.
Our school is also certified as a
private occupational vocational technical school by the Connecticut
Department of Higher Education. The Certificates of Completion received
by students completing our training programs satisfy the state licensing
requirements for education
Our training is designed to teach the theory behind what makes a system work and
extensive hands-on training is used to teach how to trouble-shoot that system.
After we teach
the theory of a control circuitry-wiring diagram, students then build a training board incorporating the controls discussed in
the theory class. After attending our
school students have the basic knowledge and confidence needed to be an
entry-level technician. Students can
also attend additional programs and seminars to upgrade to a higher license
category given at the Education Center and attain the CEU's (Continuing
Education Units) that come with these classes.
