Successful testing certifies to EPA regulations as authorized under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.  Upon successful test completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card indicating certification approval.  We offer 608 certification classes as follows, and per the schedule as set out below. Simply click on the desired date for training and you may register online. $110.00 for ICPA members, $220.00 for non-members.

  • Type I is for technicians who primarily service household appliances with less than 5 pounds of refrigerant including refrigerators, room air conditioners, packaged terminal heat pumps, vending machines, and drinking water coolers.

  • Type II is for technicians who install and service systems that use a high pressure refrigerant such as HCFC 22 including split system air conditioners.

  • Type III is for technicians who install and service systems that use a low pressure refrigerant such as CFC 11

  • Type IV is a universal certification for work on all systems including the first three types.
