  • SAFETY SEMINAR FOR SERVICE TECHS

May  8, 2008  |8.30AM TO 12.30PM This half day safety course is designed for the professional HVAC technician. The class will be conducted by lecture, demonstration and class participation. Companies today find their insurance costs increasing and need ways to limit risks and exposures. Making sure that your employees are well-trained in professional safety procedures helps you reduce potential expenses from injuries to your employees, property damage and accidents, which ultimately saves the company money. The HVAC Safety Seminar addresses safety information to be used in the field and in the shops of the HVAC industry. The theory and practice of proper safety procedures, use of and understanding of tools and equipment will be covered. Demonstrations will be conducted on the proper use and the safe handling of fuel, personal safety protection, safe lifting techniques, tool safety, electrical safety and ladder safety. Fire safety and carbon monoxide safety demonstrations will be performed by the Cromwell Fire Department. Handout for Safe Lifting will be done by Federated Insurance.

 


  • NORA SILVER & GOLD CERTIFICATION

| May 28, 2008  |The Silver & Gold Certification Oil Heat Technician Exam is designed for anyone who already has 3 or more years experience in the field. Criteria to Earn Silver Certification Minimum of three years work experience Minimum of 100 hours of oil heat education training Earn 78% or higher on the exam. Exam is based on NORA Oil Heat Technicians Manual The Exam is closed book. Silver Topics include: - Fuel oil & its application to basic electricity - annual tune up - Ignition systems - troubleshooting - Motors, fans & couplings - nozzles - Controls - combustion theory - Heating systems - chimneys & draft - Direct venting - combustion efficiency testing - Servicing procedures Criteria to Earn Gold Certification Completion of NORA’s Silver Program Minimum of five years work experience Minimum of 120 hours of oil heat education training Earn 78% or higher on exam The Exam is closed book. *Pre-Registration is required to accommodate ordering of tests. No walk ins. You must register by April 14, 2008 Cost of manual is extra. Students should bring their NORA Oilheat Technicians Manual with them. The Silver & Gold Certification is valid for 5 years. To renew your certification, you must earn 24 CEUs within those 5 years. If Certification expires then the technician must retake the test. Documentation required—please bring copy of your occupational trade license and SS number In registering for this class the registrant[s] are also agreeing to the following statement: I certify that the students listed meet the requirements for the Certificate they are seeking, that the documentation of their required training hours and years of service exists and is on file, and that the student will supply written documentation of their required credentials upon request of Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association. National Oilheat Research Alliance, their agents or assigns. Indicate when registering whether you are registering for either Silver or Gold Certification.

In 2008 ITEC begins plumbing license review classes. 

The Plumbing P-License Review Seminar is a comprehensive review presented each month for those who will be undergoing their plumbing license exam. The reviews are 2-day classes. The seminars are held on Monday and Tuesday of the week and run from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. The course fee is $180.00 per applicant. P-License Review Classes are taught on the dates below. Three text books are required for each class and their cost is NOT included in the $180.00 course fee. See below for course dates and book purchase options. ITEC Distance Learning Programs

Beginning in January, 2008 ITEC students will be able to take ITEC classes online, via the internet. Our first distance learning class is from our "B" License program and is Basic Electricity.  Students register and pay ITEC as they normally would and then will receive an electronic confirmation by email with a password to our website where the student may then begin to take the class. Upon successfully completing the class the student will receive a course completion card and credit just as is the case for any student who attends the class at ITEC.

The Propane G-License Review Seminar is a comprehensive review for technicians who will be undergoing their propane g-license testing.

ITEC conducts overviews and testing for EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certification.  The overviews cover refrigerant containment and EPA regulations.  All manuals and testing materials are provided.
